Security Magic: the security guard who picks pockets
Security Magic is the welcome act in which I stand at your door as a security guard. Your guests come in with a story instead of just a coat on the rack and a name sticker.
What you will experience
At the entrance stand a detection gate and a security guard with an earpiece. The alarm goes off, I stop your guest and point out ever so politely that this really cannot come inside.
Out of the scarf comes a piece of sushi, out of the coat a fish, out of the bag a pole of nearly two metres. Astonishment and apologies all round, until I drop the act and wave them through, laughing.
Once inside, people hang around at a distance to see who is next. So your room is already full of people talking before your programme has started, and that saves you an awkward first half hour.

Do guests notice it is an act?
Not straight away. I play the security guard seriously, complete with earpiece and gate, until the moment I drop the act.
Can we change the hidden items?
Yes, that is agreed together. Something with a nod to your company or your product usually works best.
Does this work at a trade show too?
Yes. As a surprise act at the entrance of your stand it stops passing visitors, after which your team takes over the conversation.
